Domestic Abuse Counselling

Domestic violence is an under-reported crime that affects women and men across all communities, ethnicities, religions and cultures.

At times it may seem like nothing you say or do can help you to feel better about yourself. You may have never shared what happened to you with anyone before because you thought no one would believe you, because of cultural issues or you simply put it down to him or her being moody or has a bad temper. You notice however that you are losing your confidence and becoming more and more anxious, perhaps you have started to cope by misusing drugs or alcohol.

Domestic violence and abuse can seriously impact on your mental health; we provide a confidential space where you can make sense of it all. Our counsellors will not give you advice we focus on your personal experience and we will talk about your thoughts and feelings from your point of view. We will not impose our interpretation or judgement on what you tell us.

We have a long history of working in the violence against women and girls sector. Our counsellors have been providing domestic abuse counselling for over 20 years. We understand the dynamics and often subtle nature of of domestic violence and abuse.
We know from experience that it is possible to help survivors of domestic violence and abuse build their confidence and self-esteem. We help people to go on to lead abuse free lives and enjoy satisfying and fulfilling relationships.

  • Is he or she charming one minute and abusive the next?
  • Does he or she control your life – for example money, who you should see, what you should wear?
  • Does he or she verbally abuse you?
  • Does he or she constantly criticise you?
  • Do you change your behaviour to avoid making him or her angry and triggering an attack?

If you have answered yes to any of the above questions and you want to break the silence, explore emotions and find healing. We can help you!
