Poetry therapy or therapeutic writing is a form of expressive therapy that uses the act of writing down your thoughts and feelings into words and processing them. It is based on the belief that recording memories, concerns and problems can help, promote health and well being and lead to, healing self discovery and personal growth.
The personal benefits of writing therapy can be physical (e.g. improved immune system), emotional (e.g. stress reduction), social (e.g. improved relationships) and psychological (e.g. improvements in depression, anxiety, concentration and mood.
We offer writing therapy in groups and one day workshops to adults and young people.
Connection with Others:
An advantage of working in a group is the benefit of hearing the experiences of others. When we are experiencing life’s challenges we often feel like we are alone, only to realise when others open up to us that we often share feelings, and sometimes have experiences and thoughts in common. Hearing our words being validated by others can be a powerful learning and healing experience, and lead us to deeper layers of realisation and increased confidence. The group can also provide support as we delve into these layers and accept ourselves and integrate difficult experiences.
Do you want to:
- Express yourself creatively whilst healing old wounds?
- Gain fresh perspectives?
- Deepen your understanding of who you are and how you came to be that way?
If you have answered yes to any of the questions above we can help you!
